I was thinking, as I drove home from school
today, what a powerful entity is this planet, this 'Mother Nature'.
It is now April 30, 1996.
It is raining. And yet, there is a sense of, well, 'expectancy'
in the air. I have no doubt, I have faith, that these April showers
will bring May flowers. The landscape is already noticeably greener
than last week.
Consider all the attempts we make to disturb the system. From
burning a hole in the Ozone layer, to cutting down the Rain Forests.
From dumping trash into the oceans, to burying nuclear wastes
in New Mexico.
Still, Spring Arrives. In this part of the world, the leaves are
coming out. More precisely, the leaves are 'growing'. They are
not 'coming' or 'going' anyplace.
They are staying right where they are, and reaching for sunlight.
What a powerful planet we live on.
